After the freshers' party....
Jasmine
is a young and beautiful girl starting her first year as an
undergraduate at one of the best universities in the country.
She
is the average 'good girl' that never does a thing without informing
her parents - until some weeks back when she attended a party without
letting them know.
She knew they wouldn't approve.
Her
roommate, Sandra Louis, was taking her turn cleaning up their shared
toilet as Jasmine dressed up for her afternoon lectures.
She picked up her bag, ready to leave....
Jasmine
suddenly felt a "strange feeling" build up in her stomach. She ran to
the toilet, pushed Sandra aside as her breakfast rushed up her throat.
She emptied her stomach, messing up the toilet bowl.
The retching left her roommate really scared.
"I
don't think so. I guess I must have eaten something not good for my
stomach. I've been having a strange feverish feeling. I've also been
feeling nauseous of late," Jasmine replied.
Jasmine turned around and noticed a startled look on her roommate’s face.
"What’s up with that look on your face? Whats wrong?" Jasmine said after a deep breath.
"Jasmine I think you're pregnant" Sandra said.
Jasmine’s face took a new, ugly shape. "WHAT!! Its a lie! You just said that to see how I'll react right?"
She tried to smile...but failed.
"Didn't you ever attend a Secondary school?” Sandra asked. “Weren't you ever taught the symptoms of pregnancy?”
“What ...are you trying to say,” Jasmine stammered.
“Hmm,
don't tell me Richard did this to you. I saw you guys at the "FRESHERS
PARTY". It’s just three weeks ago,” Sandra said with questioning look
on her face.
Jasmine tried to remember what
happened that night she was with Richard her boyfriend. She remembered
the few drinks she had with him and the short walk away from the venue
of the party. Richard, a 300 level Law student, had made her drink a cup
of chilled a funny tasting strawberry wine in a guest house outside the
Campus..
"I can't remember, I think Richard doped me" tears welled up in her eyes. “Jasmine, what will I do now.”
“Hmm. What else?” was all she got from her stunned friend.
After the abortion...
The
news of Jasmine's death was the talk of the school for over two weeks.
No one could believe the rumors that Jasmine, a beautiful, tall and
intelligent student died of an abortion-gone-wrong, after spending just about a month in the university system.
Police
investigations confirmed that Jasmine died of abortion complications.
Sandra her roommate also confessed that she had taken Jasmine to a quack
doctor for an abortion.
